Frequently Asked Questions

When should I consult a gynaecologist?

You should consult a gynaecologist if you experience irregular periods, heavy bleeding, pelvic pain, vaginal infections, pregnancy-related concerns, or menopause symptoms.

Occasional irregularity can be normal due to stress or lifestyle changes. However, frequent irregular periods may indicate hormonal imbalance, PCOS, or thyroid disorders and should be evaluated by a doctor.

In a normal pregnancy:

  • First trimester: 1–2 visits
  • Second trimester: once every month
  • Third trimester: every 2–3 weeks Regular visits help ensure the health of both mother and baby.

Mild vaginal discharge is normal. If it is associated with foul smell, itching, unusual colour (yellow/green), or pain, it may indicate an infection and requires medical attention.

A Pap smear is a screening test for cervical cancer. It is recommended for women from the age of 21, usually once every 3–5 years, even if there are no symptoms.
